La Música de Mariachi

We joined my parents for dinner at El Vallarta tonight, not knowing a mariachi band would be playing. Those guys are amazing! Great voices all around, and we heard them do everything from Freddie Fender (for my dad) to the Beatles to “Rocky Top.” Awesome night!!

Sooooo…..hoy, dos cuadros para el precio de uno…

Lucas and my dad tipping:

Atticus playing his own horn:

p.s. I recorded one of the songs they played. I’ll try to get it posted this weekend.

UPDATE: Here’s the audio of one of their songs; I’m not sure of the name. When they asked us which song to play, we told them to play their favorite song. This was it.

WE MISSY OU!

Nothing will ever be the same. It’s just the way it goes.

How long before you take down the MISSY OU sign? The Rainbow people gave it a good year, I guess.

I wish I could go back — way back — to fortify and edify what now doesn’t seem to take a rectify.

Hindsight’s 20-20, they say. Well, what if all you’ve got is 20-100, even forward?

Figuratively literal? Literally figurative?

That squishy, mish-mashy, goulash is my heart all around that part that misses you.

72/365: Bloomin’ Dogwood

I love that the Dogwood is the Virginia state tree and flower because I just adore them … especially in bloom!

I hope I get to take a picture of the pear trees planted up and down Riverside Drive sometime this week. For the shot in my head, I’d probably have to stand in the median, though — not too sure I’m ready to be that daring.

This Dogwood is outside Sacred Heart.

71/365: Rango

If we could have bought Rango on the way out of the theater, we probably would’ve. It was that good.

And since our movie outing was Lucas’ extra-special treat for having 10 school days with no bad marks AND Atticus’ first movie ever, it’s a very good thing it was so good. 🙂
