“I believe that with hard luck, a little luck, and the love of Jesus Christ, we can have it all.” -Songwriter, Danny Cockram (1957–2021)
I used to sit and watch in awe as my cousin Garland would play his guitar with his bluegrass band on the front porch of my uncle’s house. Meadows of Dan, Va. Wow, what a feeling that must have been to be able to play and have people listen.
I was about ten years old when I got my first guitar and started to learn a few chords. It wasn’t long before I discovered that my passion was not so much playing and singing. It was writing. It’s a blessing and a curse mixed together. I see everyday events and think about what kind of song I could write about them. Keeps me awake sometimes. It stops the car sometimes.
It is a passion. It is also frustrating. To have your baby (your creation) sitting on a shelf and no one but you knows it’s there, is hard to handle.
Thanks to my friend Jo, who helped me create this website. I can now let people listen, and hopefully enjoy, my creations. Anyway, I’m very excited to be connected to you. I hope you enjoy the songs and will help me sort through my efforts.

Good stuff! Brilliant keyboard work on “Tattered Coat”!
It warms my heart that this website exists. I hope lots of his singing is posted here as well as many memories. Thanks for sharing!
