This song was written in ’86. “Let’s Shoot For The Moon” is my baby. It has been noticed by more people than any other song I’ve written. It’s special to me because not too long after it was written, our daughter Kelsey was born. Aug ’87. It says that it’s OK to dream. Dreams can come true.

Back to New Orleans

When Hurricane Katrina made its way into New Orleans, I literally cried as I watched on the news. People leaving, people trapped. Nothing I could do but watch. Soon I was inspired to write about New Orleans people. Desperately, I wrote, looking for the right words and phrasing. It came to me like a flash of lightning. It hadn’t been too many days earlier that I was listening to my friend Jo singing. She sang with great passion and sincerity. She was the only one who could convey the message of this song. She graciously agreed to record the song. She heard “Back To New Orleans” on Friday and we recorded it on Monday of the next week. Wow, what a voice. The jazz sound flowed out of her like it was her own. Many thanks go out to Jo. She is so talented. Kevin, my nephew, played lead guitar and definitely made it his own. This song was the start of a noticeable journey which I’m still pursuing. From New Orleans to Mississippi to New York, it’s making its rounds. Love ya, Jo and Kevin.

The Water from the Jordan

What an awesome thought that the VERY SAME WATER that touched JESUS as he was baptized could make contact with you somehow. Water never disappears from Planet Earth. It just re-circulates through the clouds. Drink it in, wash with it, cry it through your tears. It’s not just symbolic; it is real, just like Jesus. It gave me chills when I thought of the whole concept. The water evaporates from his brow and is rained on our lands and lakes. I want some of that water.
