AD English 9 Calendar – August 22-26
English 10 Calendar – August 22-26
As you can see, everyone’s starting off the week with a practice SOL essay. This will be graded on completion, but also on its merits in composing, written expression, and usage/mechanics. (For more information on the SOL Writing Domains, you can see my post here.)
Ninth-graders have begun their independent novel-reading, To Kill a Mockingbird. The first reading quiz is Thursday, on chapters 1-6. Calendars list reading assignments by day; if these homework assignments are followed, the reading is fairly easy, usually less than 15 pages a night. Note-taking is encouraged, and notes may be used on quizzes.
I will be contacting a lot of parents this week about grades. I worked hard this weekend to get everything graded, so I could have an accurate picture of where each student is.
Finally, I checked materials today and will finish doing so tomorrow. Unfortunately, there are far too many students who don’t have the materials required for class yet. This is for a grade, as specified on the syllabus.
