  1. Walter M. says:

Personally, I like scary movies because they give me a feeling of excitement and curiosity. My favorite scary movies are Paranormal Activity, Dawn of the Dead, and The Walking Dead. Even though some scary movies are really scary I still like them. The main thing I’m saying is I love scary movies and most of my family and friends do to.

    • Corey B says:

I agree Walter, scary movies are great for excitement. Also a lot of my friends and family also watch scary movies. I think Paranormal Activity was a scary movie ,but The Walking Dead and Dawn of the Dead are more comedy types, well they make me laugh.

  2. Albert W. says:

This article is about the popularity of the horror genre in film and literature. I don’t particularly care for the horror genre. In addition to not liking the sadness usually associated with it, most of it appears to have stories that are tacky with a thin plot. If I believed a house to be haunted, I definetly would not spend the night there.

    • Steven B. says:

Albert, I disagree with your opinion. Many horror stories have a complex plot, but you have to pay attention to understand it. For example, in Paranormal Activity, they have the background information that they find out about the hauntings, but some are small details and are hard to notice. The Friday the 13th series have a great story behind them, and they are full of suspense, as well as many other literary tools. The Walking Dead has a very complex storyline, but you have to watch all of the episodes carfully to understand this. There are still a few cheesy horror movies with little plot to them, but the good ones greatly outnumber the bad.

    • Ryan T. says:

Albert, I disagree with your opinion. Many Scary movies has great plots you just have to watch the whole thing. Some movies If you miss a little part of it you will be lost. Some movies are a little tacky but all are not. You have to pay attiention to understand what is going on.

    • Brooke B. says:

      Albert,
In what way are they sad or tacky? They all have a plot that is appealing to it’s viewers. The only way it would be tacky is if the conclusion is figured out way to early in the film and does not make you second guess your own conclusion of the story. So, I completely disagree with your comment.

      • Cara M. says:

        Albert,
I admire your honesty in not liking horror films and your portrayal of them. However, I also disagree. I really like scary films and literature. I believe to be suspensful and exciting. I think that most scary movies do not have a thin plot, but I will say most of them are the same. It follows the same format in such a way that you can tell the endings usually. There are many “cheesy” or tacky, as you put it, horror films, but there are many really good ones as well.

      • Albert W. says:

Brooke, I admire your adamancy on this issue. However, I value life immensely, and much, if not most, of literature and films in the horror genre have either main characters or supporting characters that die gruesome deaths. I believe there is enough sadness and horror in real life to not have to look for it in a fictional setting. I do believe that some films in the horror genre can be tasteful and well-done. When I refer to tacky horror films, I refer to ones that have gratuitous violence and sexuality that adds no real substance to the plot.

    • Kai C. says:

Well Albert, I would have to disagree with you. Most scary movies have a pretty complex plot. I will admit to this some of them are tacky, but most of them aren’t.

  3. Alexis L. says:

I would happily spend the night in a haunted house and see a ghost with my own eyes, especially around Halloween. I adore scary movies and books. The thrill it creates is like reading a good mystery or doing a ridiculous dare, just scarier. Scary movies get your adrenaline pumping without you being in any real danger. Its great fun watching them in the dark where your mind plays tricks on you (and sometimes your family does)and gets your mind off of everyday stress around Halloween. My family owns loads of them and really enjoy watching them.

  4. Steven B. says:

This article focuses on the popularity of horror movies and stories in our society, as well as in past socities. I enjoy horror movies and stories. A few favorites are Paranormal Activity, The Walking Dead, Silent Hill, and Friday the 13th. Even though I enjoy horror movies, I would not stay in a haunted house, because it would extremely scary and potentially dangerous.

    • Malachi. M. says:

Steven , I agree with your opinion because even though we both enjoy horror movies one of wouldnt like to spend the night at a haunted house . Im also a huge fan of The Walking Dead series . It is very true that you must watch all the episodes of The Walking Dead really carefully because if you miss the smallest detail , you will end up confused while trying to talked to someone who has already seen the whole entire episode or all the episodes .

    • Rebecca M. says:

      Steven,
I agree with your opinion on Horror films and stories. I also enjoy horror movies and stories. Friday the 13th is also one of my favorite scary films. I also agree with you, I too would not want to stay in a haunted house, I would be freaked out and definitely would not be going to sleep if I was to stay the night in a haunted house, its just too creepy.

  5. Ryan T. says:

I love to watch scary movies. Scary movies are most interesting to me than other kinds of movies. I love scary movies because it is exciting to see. Sometimes you see things that you could not even see in the real world. it gives you something to think about. I love all kinds of scary moves. So does my family and friends. I always watch scary movies. Its also funny to see funny reaction to some people when they watch a scary movie. There is so many reasons why i love scary movies. I guess it just runs in my family.

    • Ishmale D says:

I agree with you and i like them also. It gives you a way to see things that you can not see in the real world. I do enjoy getting a laugh at people’s reactions.

      • Kiara T. says:

I love people’s frightened reactions aswell, but I disagree a lot when someone says this stuff could not happen in the real world. There are way too many accounts of people seeing things we never thought possible. I’m completely open-minded to this. It seems that just when you think something could never be real, there winds up being a ton of skeptics made into believers. That especially goes for ghosts, poltergeists, etc.

    • Kate H says:

Ryan, I agree with you, horror movies excite me because i know that it is not real and I get to see an evil perspective on the world. i love the adrenaline you get as something suspenseful is about to happen. I also love the feeling I get after the movie is done, i feel really tough and accomplished.

  6. Brooke B. says:

This article is about the genre of horror and scary movies and books. Most horror films make the top of the charts for its excitement and thrill it brings to its viewers. Personally I like the idea of being scared by something like this, because it gives you the feel like you are apart of the storyline. The thing that is the most disappointing about horror films is that the conclucion can be figured out before the story ends. Most horror films are the same, the bad guy kills people and either gets away with it or doesn’t. That, I think, is the only downfall.

    • Cara M. says:

      Brooke,
I agree on the fact that they all usually end the same and are predictable. I love horror films as well and believe that that is the only downfall to this specific genre as well. I too enjoy the thrill and the suspense! It is very exciting.

    • Madison T says:

      Brooke,
I agree with everything you said except for the part about the conclusion. There are a lot of scary movies that have bad guys the kill people the either get caught or do not get caught, but there a lot of movies that do not involve a person killing someone or something. Many scary movies are about someone or something being possessed and they do not alway kill anything.

  7. Cara M. says:

This article is about horror films. It talks about how horror films are very popular and recieve a lot of praise. Many people enjoy the thrill and the excitement of them. The article explains how recent movies, such as The House at the End of the Street and Paranormal Activity 4, as well as older movies, House on the Haunted Hill and Amityville Horror, make a lot of money in Hollywood. Personally, I enjoy horror movies. They are exciting and you can’t wait to see what will happen next. They keep you on the edge of your seat. I would want to visit “haunted house”, despite the fact that I enjoy horror films. I know they are not real and I like the excitement of things like that. Watching them at home, a friend’s house or even at a movie theatre has never bothered me. Books do not scare me either. Haunted, scary or horror based literature is enjoyable and amusing. This goes for any type of horror media, movies, books, television shows, etc. I do not believe in real ghosts or places being really haunted, therefore I usually like scary things and they do not so much as effect or scare me.

    • Nia L. says:

Cara, I couldn’t agree with you more on your comment about this article. The suspense given from these kind of movies is spectacular. Also, the way they keep you on your toes, wanting to know more, just adds to it. They have never really bothered me either, as you mentioned. I continue to enjoy horror films to this day!

  8. Marissa M. says:

I would not like to visit a haunted house because I scare easily. I would not like to spend the night in one unless I was not alone and I could escape easily if I felt needed. I think the old dark houses fascinate people because they encourage fear in people and bring out feelings of bravery and curiosity . I saw one horror movie as a child and since then I have never had a real interest in horror movies. Horror books interest me every once in a while. I don’t really have a favorite horror movie or book because there is other subjects I would rather read or watch movies about.

    • Araceli C says:

      Marissa,
I agree I wouldn’t want to spend the night at a haunted house if I couldn’t escape easily or when I wanted to. But maybe you should try watching a horror movie now that you’re older to see if you gain interest in them.

    • Rebecca H. says:

      Marissa,
I completely agree with you. I would hate being in a haunted house, especially by myself. I also agree that people feel that others recognize their courage when they do such things. Horror movies probably aren’t that bad though. Maybe you should watch one again! However, once again, I totally understand.

      • Torrance D. says:

It could be just me, but I see nothing wrong with spending the night in a haunted house. As a matter of fact, if that was a job I would love to do it because there is nothing better than night lit up by a full moon, howling, creepy footsteps, doors that open slowly, weird and strange sounds out out if nowhere and so much more. I just dont see what is scary about that. But like I said maybe it’s me, because I really don’t see what is so scary about a haunted house. But what I think has people paranoid is the fact of how people present haunted houses. If you have ever watched movies or TV shows they both always give haunted houses a bad rep, but I don’t think haunted houses are all that bad, but then again, maybe it’s just me.

  9. Araceli C says:

This article is about horror movies and books.Personally, I don’t really like scary movies because I’m one if those people that can get scared very easily. Even though I don’t really like scary movies I still like the thrill and the excitment. I wouldnt want to visit a haunted house and I think that they actually exist. My favorite scary movies are Nightmare on Elm Street, Paranormal Activity 3, and the classic Michael Myer movies.

  10. Agustin V. says:

Not only does this article mention a variety of scary movies and literature, but it explains how each individual story is unique and different in their own way and how each piece made it’s way to fame because of its content. Even though some scary movies have the same plot, I personally enjoy scary movies and I am sure many of us do. Both movies and books have a suspenseful story line, which is why I think most people enjoy reading scary books or watching scary movies. If i had the opportunity to go to a haunted house, I would not give up the chance. It would be a fun experience and add on to the thrill of being scared.

    • Stefani C. says:

      Agustin V.

When you say that if you had a chance to go “Haunted House” , do you mean the haunted houses that are meant for fun, or an Actual Haunted House? I Think A Real Haunted House Wouldn’t be fun at all, I’ve seen that happen and it’s actually pretty scary, but I agree with you.

    • Jackie M. says:

      Agustin V.,
I could not agree more. Scary books and movies are enjoyable and make you feel like you are living on the edge. The story line of most horror films are very suspenseful and can give you amazing feelings. I would like to spend the night in a haunted house as well because it would be incredibly thrilling and exciting.

      • Nia L. says:

Agustin, I totally agree with your comment on this article. I adore horror movies, and from the looks of it, it sounds like you do as well. I wouldn’t give up the opportunity on going to an actual haunted house, but do you mean an acutal haunted house or a haunted house that is set up?

  11. Malachi. M. says:

In my opinion , I love scary movies and huanted houses . Im glad i read this article about haunted houses and scary movies .The reason why is because of the suspense building up as something crazy or chaotic is about to happen . My favorite scary movies are The Classic Micheal Myers movies , The Texas Chain-saw Massacre , Strangers , The Last Exorcism , Devil , and The Devil Inside . One day , I would like to go to a Haunted House and spend the night there to see if the legends or myths are real .

    • Kelsey.A says:

      Malachi.M,
I agree scary movies are fun to watch.I have watch The Texas Chain -Saw Massacre its one of my favorites too.

  12. Ishmale D says:

My opinion is in between. It depends on which scary movie it is. The article is explaining how scary movies date back to the 1900’s. Personally I think the house at the end of the street is not scary. If it is a true story it kinda creeps me out. I dont beleive that there are haunted houses in the world today.

    • Marisha W says:

Ishmale , I agree. We were not alive in the 1900’s so how are we supposed to know about that time? And now a days movies aren’t as scary as they used to be. But I dissagree with your conclusion about haunted houses not being real. There could be a possibilty that your house is haunted. Maybe the ghosts just don’t want to let you know that.

    • Alexis L. says:

      Ishmale,
I do not think that the scariness (level) of movies nowadays has changed (even from the 1990s), just evolved a bit. The movies all can be scary, it just depends on the person that is watching it’s fears. About Haunted Houses, I do believe that some houses are haunted, but not all of them. I, myself, have experienced “paranormal things” in certain places that I have lived/visited. Not all ghosts like to be known-about, you might even have one in your house.

  13. Isaac.H says:

My opinoin. It deoends on what kind of scary movie it is if it is true I will become very scary. It creeps me out when i hear things at night and i just watch a scary movie.

  14. Kelsey.A says:

This article is about horror and scary movies and books. In my opinion , I love scary movies.Horror films are popular and more interesting than any other types of movies. The reason why I love scary movies because they are interesting to watch.Horror movies make a lot of money in theaters when they come out. I love to watch horror movies like The Walking Dead , The Mist , Final Destinations , Land Of The Dead , and many more.

  15. Kiara T. says:

Well, I don’t enjoy a lot of the horror movies made today. To be honest, I thought all the Paranormal activity movies were horribly boring-I fall asleep watching documentaries. Movies like Saw, I can’t look at the screen without screaming; they’re so gory! I guess that’s a good thing.
I love reading, though, so scary books are right up my alley. I’d not only like to visit a haunted house, I wouldn’t mind living in one! Paranormal happenings have always fascinated me. In fact, I used to think it was unfair only some people got to experience this! I wouldn’t pass up the chance to go to a haunted house, and if I had an encounter, I’d be excited, if anything.

  16. Rebecca M. says:

This article, “Do You Like Scary Movies?”, is about some of the popular scary movies and books. In my personal opinion I like scary movies, something about the suspense and thrill of the movie is interesting. Horror films and novels are very different from others, they are way more interesting to me, that song that plays when something bad is about to happen, that feeling you get when you know that the killer is behide the door but yet the character still goes an opens the door, thats suspense that has you wanting to yell at the t.v.

    • Aniyah K. says:

Rebecca, I agree with your comment. I also feel that way when watching scary movies. Though I get more scared than others, I still enjoy the suspense.

  17. Nadia R. says:

This article is about some of the best scary movies thats out right now and also haunted houses. I love scary movies not just because they are scary, but I love them because they have so much suspence and keeps you glued to the screen wanting to know whats coming next. I would rather watch scary movies rather than just watch plain ole’ regular movies. But movies with demonic stuff in it I really cant deal with all the time ; I have to get myself prepared for those kind! Some of my favorite horror movies are The Hills Have Eyes , Wrong Turn , Somebody Help Me and all of the Paranormial Activity Movies.

  18. Nadia R. says:

Kelsey A. , I definitley agree with you on about how scary movies are interesting! Especially if you’re with some of your friends and they do something just to scare you even more than you already are.

  19. Marisha W says:

I do believe haunted houses are real. I believe in ghosts and demons. And ofcourse some do live in a house. Who wooould want to live outside anyways , dead or alive? A night in a haunted house sounds delighful. Feeling my adrenalin rush as I hear unknown foot steps coming down the corridor. Horror movies are amzing. Gives me a type edge to live on.

    • Eden G. says:

      Marisha W,
I have not come to a conclusion on whether I believe ghosts and demons to be true, or not. I definitely do not deny their existence though. However, I would never spend the night in a huanted house! That would be over the limit for me. Visiting one would be interesting though.

  20. roger p. says:

I like scary movies now. when i was younger, I wacthed a scary at the time movie (jonny bones).I was shook for months before I could even think about going to sleep with the lights off. four years later after seeing it again, the movie really sucked. my fav movie gender of all time would have to be ZOMBIEs. i saw countless numbers of zombie films and also enjoy wacthing T.V. and playing video games. Ive gotten so comfortable with zombies i can look at them before going to sleep.

  21. Allen R says:

I would really like to spend the night in a house purported to be haunted. Horror book’s are actually fun to read according to me. I really like the book World War Z by Max Brooks. But I hate scary movies I can not watch them. People try to get me to watch them but I say no. If I watch them kind of movies I will not be able to sleep that night.

  22. Kate H says:

In the past i have never liked horror movies one bit. Just recently I realized that they can be fun if you remember that it is completely fake, nothing like that happens in real life, and that this movie was made for entertainment, not to warn you what is out in the world. Horror movies get your blood rushing and your adrenaline pumping and its an exciting feeling. Once you finish a really scary movie you feel really courageous and brave. Although i have said this, there is no way I would spend the night in a haunted house. I get scared very easily so the good thing about movies is that they are over in two hours, staying in a haunted house would be all night long.

    • Abby D says:

      Kate H,
I could not agree with you more. I used to never watch scary movies until my friends made me. I realized that they are fun to watch. I also feel a sense of accomplishment after I finish a scary movie.

  23. Madison T says:

The article main focus is on horror film and books. It disscusses why and in what ways the interest people. I personally love scary movies. I enjoy the feeling of being on the end of your seat wanting to know whats gonna happing next and jumping when something unexpected happens. I do not exactly believe or not believe in a house really being haunted, but I would probably take the chance to stay in one if I got some friends to go with me, if it is actually haunted or not.

    • Le'Riece M. says:

      Madison T.
I totally, agree with your response to this article. The feeling of something bad, about to happen in a movie scene. Has my heart jumping all around, and I definitely wish me and some of my friends could stay in a haunted house, but I know for sure.It want happen!

  24. Davia T. says:

The article is mainly about the popularity of some of the most recent scary movies and how they affect people. I love scary movies and the thrill of them. I love the type of scary movies that can make me scream. Some of my favorites are Halloween, 1408, Wrong Turn, Paranormal Activity, Nightmare on Elm Street, and my most recent, Sinister. Also, I would love to visit a haunted house, but I would have to be with a group of people.

  25. Abby D says:

I enjoy scary movies and literature. The article was about scary movies of the twentieth century and why we are drawn to them. I may like to be scared occasionally, but spending the night in a haunted house would not be my ideal sleeping conditions. Reading literature doesn’t scare me at all. Most scary movies do scare me. However, I still watch them. I just keep telling myself that its not real.

  26. Rebecca H. says:

This article names many scary movies and books. It tells how some people like the scare they get from them. The article overall tells about how horror movies and reading material have been around for a long time. However, I am not a big fan of anything scary. I can watch them, but to be honest, they kind of freak me out. I can read scary books, but once again, they are not my preference. I also would never want to spend the night at a haunted house because I would be extremely scared. In sum, horror is one of my least favorite things.

  27. Le'Riece M. says:

My response towards scary movies or books. Is that they’re published or produced for the excitement for whomever is receiving it. For me, I would actually rather watch an scary movie or book than something pertaining to romance. It wouldn’t give me that adrenaline rush or wonder if something bad is going to happen, even with haunted house. It’s just the feel of evil approaching me, that gives me shivers, but its just for the fun of it.
My description of this article , a screenshot photo with a caption at the bottom.

  28. Stefani C. says:

Do i like scary movies? I do, but I wouldn’t watch a scary movie or commercial by myself. Honestly, I do think haunted houses exist, I’ve seen it myself, & I would NEVER want to sleep there. I personally don’t think that books can scare me, but movies can Definatly scare me, whenever I watch something scary my feet cannot be hanging off of anywhere. My favorite scary films would have to be the Paranormal Activity Movies & The Amityville Horror, that’s all I can think of for now.

    • Kestin C. says:

Stefani, I agree with you tremendously. I can watch a scary movie with other people, but not by myself. But, I disagree with there being actual haunted house.

  29. Nia L. says:

This article’s main focus is about recent and past terror movies and the thrill they give off. My preference is acutally scary movies over any other genre. I love a movie that can keep me on the edge of my seat, and scary movies do just that! Some of my favorites include Orphan, Dream House, and Hide and Seek. I enjoy the suspense from these movies and how they keep me wanting to see what will happen next.

  30. Aniyah K. says:

I enjoy scary movies and books. Though, I wouldn’t like to spend the night in a haunted house. I feel that scary movies are very adventrous, yet they give you fears of actual life. The scary movies that say in the beginning “Based on a true stroy …” gets you very terrified. Even though we may not know if it is true or not. Scary movies/novels are interesting and funny, but also can make you paranoid after viewing/reading them.

  31. Jeremy D. says:

I myself enjoy looking at scary movies. Some of my favorites are the Paranormal series,Halloween series,And A Nightmare on Elm Street. I like them because they make me feel scared and I’m always guessing . As much as I do enjoy watching Scary movies. I don’t think I would spend a night in one. Not because I’m scared but how paranoid I would be afterwards.

  32. Corey B says:

I like scary movies alot. Scary movies create a lot of adrenaline and excitement. They also give the audiance a little curiousity about whats going to happen next. Most scary movies aren’t even scary, they have more of a comedy feature, well thats how I see it. Everyone has opinions and my opinion that I like scary movies a lot and most people do, but i wouldn’t recommend letting children ten and under watch them without suppervision.

    • DeAnthony P says:

I disagree to that because even little children should be able to watch them because our society today doesnt even make children think about “the monster under my bed” anymore. but on the other hand they have no business watching anything Paranormal.

  33. Jackie M. says:

This article is about horror movies and scary books from different time periods. Personally, I enjoy horror stories because they are suspenseful and exciting. Some of my favorite scary films include The Lovely Bones, Paranormal Activity, and The Exorcist. Even though I do not believe in them, I would like to visit or even stay the night at an actual haunted house. It would be a thrilling, wondrous adventure. In this article, it says that “the old dark house” continues to fascinate us because “it plays on our collective notion of home as a safe space.” I agree with this because most people think that their house is a safe refuge, but scary movies can change that opinion completely. Honestly, I don’t have a certain extent to which I enjoy being scared by things. It’s an interesting and adrenaline-pumping feeling that I rarely experience.

    • Agustin V. says:

      Jackie M.

I definitely agree with you about going to a haunted house. I think it would be a fun experience for those individuals who enjoy scary things. It would add to the suspense of whether it is real or not and an exciting adventure to learn more about things. Also, I agree with wat you said about scary films and how people react to it and maybe even question the fact of those things being real.

  34. Gelawdewos T says:

The movie is about “The Horror, The Horror”. I personally do not like horror films. The only once i have seen are “Nightmare at elm street” and all the “final destination” movies but i never considered it as one because it was not scary. I agree that once you have seen a horror film and you watch it again you wont have the same thrills from it and it would not be scary any more because you have already seen it and know whats going to happen. Jason Zinoman says that people watch scary movies for the “really intense emotional experiences” but i can not argue with that since i am not a horror fan.

    • jameek w says:

i like scary movies like “the house on the left, nightmare on elm’s street. these flims have thing i like and is blood and death. But like they say if you watch horror flims over and over again it won’t be as horrifying as it was when you first watch them!!!!.o_o

  35. Torrance D says:

If you ask me I love scary movies. It’s amazing how you can look at a scary movie from back then and then, look at one now and see how far scary movies have come. But the thing is I watch scary movies so much until they are not even scary anymore. In fact I even fell asleep on one, and it was one that I haven’t even seen yet. But to answer the question NO Im not afraid to sit down and watch a scary movie.

  36. gabriel underwood says:

Honestly in all consideration I find all scary movies to be my favorite as long as they are scary & not stupid.

  37. Tatyanna H. says:

I don’t think there is a hunted house out here especially in Danville because I don’t see nothing hunted around here maybe some people have spirits in their homes or maybe in different parts of the world, but not here. I wouldn’t mind going to a hunted house only if it was during the day time, but during the night time I have to be crazy in order to do that. Spending the night in a hunted house ? I don’t think so ! I wouldn’t have the heart or the set of mind to do that. I don’t have a favorite scary book , but I do have some favorite movies and that is Halloween and all the Jason movies.

    • Bryanna M. says:

I agree with your statement. I don’t believe their are haunted houses here in Danville. Maybe I would go to one with some friends in the daytime like you said , but at night I wouldn’t.

  38. Demi M. says:

Personally, i like scary movies, some of my favorites are, haunting in conneticut, grudge, and the cabin in the woods. I honestly dont think there are any haunted homes in Danvillie, because i haven’t seen anything scary, but i belive thier are maybe spirts downtown, because along time ago people have lived there, also I woulden’t spend the night in a haunted house because i would be terrified.

  39. Khalil H. says:

I love horror movies.Because I’ve always imagined myself being chased my a serial killer such as Michael Myers or Jason Vorhees. So therefore I wouldn’t mind being in a haunted house either by myself or with some friends……… The main thing that would really freak me out is being left behind or getting lost. The most common thing I would also fear is being in the dark by my myself and not knowing where I am.My favorite scary movies are all the Michael Myers and Friday the 13th movies,The Exorcist, and A Nightmare on Elm street movie. You have to be smart when you’re in a haunted house especially when you are getting chased by serial killers. There’s no need to panic you just have to be smart and think.

  40. DeAnthony P says:

i personally like scary movies but not the kind a bout paranormal avtivities. I think that by watching them it can make a person hallucinate and that could make someone mentally confused. The concept of scary movies should be about giving you a little scare, not make you end up in a mental facility. And for the people who watch them , i hope for the best

    • Nia L. says:

DeAnthony, I strongly agree with your comment. As you mentioned, scary movies aren’t supposed to make you some kind of mental freak. They are just for pleasure and entertainment. Movies such as Paranormal Activity, as you said, are those type of movies that can make you actually believe that these things are real.

    • Sheala R. says:

I disagree with your comment DeAnthony. Scary movies are meant to scare you. Yes, some movies might be a little extreme and a little too graphic, but they keep you wanting more. The whole point is to keep the movies interesting so people can come back for more, its a business.

  41. I have read an article on scary movies. My response is that i love scary movies and the horror in it. Movies such as the Paranormal Activity series are the best movies. Also, I like the movies “Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Friday 13th.” But , when it comes down to the characters in scary movies , Freddy and Jason are my favorite. I’ve always imagined being haunted down by Freddy or Jason , it seems like it would be scary and lots of fun. I will always be afraid of scary movies , but they are the best to watch.

  42. In my opinion I think “Scary” movies are the best movies , they keep you on your feet . Like, Holloween , Nightmare on Elm St or, Women In Black. I think the Movies back then are better than some modern day scary movies.

  43. Geroge P. says:

I like scary movies because the feeling of terror and intense action. Scary movies has always been my favorite category of movies and literature. Some of my favorite movies to this day is, The Grudge, Incidius, The Exorsist, Holloween 1-5, and Nightmare On Elm St. I’ve always loved watching the works of art creating the this genre.

  44. Ja'Quentia M. says:

I personal think scary movies are not even scary. I just watched halloween , Nightmare on Elm Street and a couple other “Scary ” movies. I can watch any Scary movie and at the end of the day not even be scared to be honest , but I do have to have other people with me.

  45. torez d. says:

I have read an article on scary movies. My thing is that i love too watch scary scary movies and the horror in it is amazing . Movies such as the halloween series are the best movies. I like the movies ” leprechaun in the hood ” and ” leprechaun in space “But , when it comes to the characters in scary movies , michael myers and jason are the greastest , I’ve had a dream that i was in the movie being haunted by michael myers , it was fun running from him i would think if its real life i would LOVE it . I will always be afraid of scary movies even if i know they are scary movies its just the fact that you really wanna be scacred that makes you the most nervous & scared just the fact that i forget the whole movie just too watch it again & get the best scared feeling ever is what i really love about scary movies , but they are the best to watch.

  46. Triquita K says:

In this article it tells you when and what time it came out it also can incourage some people to watch it and maybe start liking the movies that they mentioned in the article. Its alot of scary movies in the world that some peopl just dont like to look at, at night time alot of superstars invent those kind of movies because they want to either make money or become famous and build their horror movie category up also

  47. Justin L says:

I wouldn’t mind being in a haunted house either by myself or with some friends……… The main thing that would really freak me out is being left behind or getting lost in the wood.I love scary movies, all of them is my favorites. The best time watch a movie is with a girl.

  48. Tyquan B. says:

I like scary movies, because they are interesting and when you watch scary movies you will never know what will happenhd next. Scary movies are kinda crazy the way people screaming for thier life and just thinkin about gets u scared, all the terror it can even have u seening stuff. People that watch scary movies should’nt be scared off nothing and people that dont watch it im glad u dont.

  49. Timothy G. says:

I think its a pretty interesting article. I personallly love the horror genre, so this is a nice piece.
but some i wish to see like the “Hill have eyes” or that “Slient Hill” movie. Some of my friends have seen them.

  50. Hannah P. says:

I love scary films and books. They are meant to be exdciteing and suspenseful. I don’t get scared very easy with things like this, I watched “The Woman in Black”,”Paranormal Activity 3″,” Cabin in the Woods, and a few others recentyly and none of them are really scary to me, I think being scared is funny and if I do get scared like on a haunted trail or something, I just laugh. When i was younger I seen a ghost in the corner of my room every night for months, so it wouldn’t really bother me to go stay at the haunted house, i would enjoy the expirence and I would like to be more knowledgable about ghost and sprits and things.

    • Taylor B. says:

I agree with you, Hannah. I love scary movies too, but I don’t like Haunted Trails and places like you do. I especially don’t think its funny to be scared. I would also like to be more knowledgable on the subject.

  51. Moniqua F. says:

I like scary movies , because to see people running from a killer makes me laugh. I’ve been watching scary movies all my life & every movie is the same. If theres any African American people in it they always die first. The white people always seems to be the dumb ones.

  52. JamalF says:

I like movie and book that are scary but you may never know if the movie may come to life and i wanna see it for myself. But this is life and that is a movie and a storie you can only make it real if you let it happen and come to life for real.

  53. Ebony C. says:

To be honest, I’m not a fan of scary movies. I like comedy, but i’ll go see one here and there. Scary movies aren’t really for me!

    • Zachary A says:

Yes I think you should go see one maybe you should watchit with friends are family and have fun watching it because laughter is one feeling but being scared is a whole different story.

  54. Eden G. says:

This article is about how horror films interest many people. In the article it says that many people are interested in horror because it provides a safe thought of their reality. However, I do not believe this is true. I believe people enjoy horror so much because it provides suspense. I only enjoy horror films to a certain extent. For me there is a ‘too scary’ and I don’t like passing that limit. My favorite scary movies would have to be the Poltergeist series. Some others would be Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and When a Stranger Calls. I don’t believe these stories to be true, but I belive there may be haunted houses out there. I personally, would never spend the night at a haunted house, but visiting one would be a possibility. I think it would be fun and exciting. It might open my mind more to the paranomal.

  55. Zachary A says:

Yes, I do think that there are haunted houses out there because i believe that some sprits really dont rest and yes I would enjoy visting one but i would not want to spend the night. I would nit know if “The Old Dark House” still fascinates us because if have not heard or seen it. I love reading books or watching movies that scares me its just something about the adrenaline rush i get when im scared that makes me wanna get scared. My favorite scary film is “Freddy v.s Jason” because it takes their two stories and combine them to gather to make a great scary movie. scary movies are the best i woukd recommend everyone to see one.

  56. Kestin C. says:

I personally don’t like all scary movies. I only really like the ones with people like Freddy or Jason, not ones of ‘paranormal’ activity. However, I never liked the Chucky movies, the fact of him turning into a doll has always creeped me out.

  57. K'shawn B. says:

I think Horror movies are the best kinds of movies. They give you this “rush” feeing. My favorite scary movie is Freddy Vs. Jason. I think visting a hunted house would be a good experience for everyone. Spending the night in a hunted house is something I’d normally do.

  58. Taylor B. says:

This article is about how popular the horror genre has become. I personally love scary movies. I believe that they provide a thrill and put you on the edge of your seat. I especially like the “Wrong Turn” series because they are funny and scary at the same time. Although I like scary movies, I don’t like Haunted Houses as much. I might would visit for a while, but I definitely would not stay overnight.

  59. Sheala R. says:

I personally love horror films. They always keep me on my toes and wanting more. Although , sometimes when I’m watching scary movies, I feel like I’m watching the same movies over and over again, just with different character names. I don’t have any favorite horror movies or books, Ive seen and read more than I can remember.

  60. Kai C. says:

This article is mainly about the popularity of scary movies and books. I personally would love to visit a house that was actually haunted on Halloween, but only if I had something to defend myself with. I also love horror movies because they keep you on the edge of you seat. My favorite scary movie is Freddy vs. Jason because it brings together two great stories into one.

  61. Bryanna M. says:

Personally I don’t really care for scary movies . Usually scary movies have the same ending to them each time . I don’t mind watching one , but they don’t excite me . To me scary movies plot’s are complexed. At the end of the movie somebody is either killed or hurt in everyone. Maybe if they would change the outcome they would be a little bit more interesting.

  62. Isaac.H says:

I agree walter.M scary movies are actually funny to me . I like the same movies.that you like aswell we have the same opinion on scary movies

  63. Jacob F. says:

I have read the article. My response is that scary movies are now becoming more popular to society, and I am saying this because people LOVE excitment. Scary movie are also my favorite too. My favorite scary movies are Freedy Vs. Jason and Chucky. Unfortunately I dont have a favorite scary book. Also if somebody would want me to stay in a hunted house, I would be happy to stay in it. Although I would only stay in there for three hours, I would go insane if stay in there for the hold day. However i doubt that there are and hunted houses in Danville, VA.

  64. Jonathan D. says:

Thers probably haunted houses out there. If I was to find a real haunted house , yes i would go to it and knowing me i would most likely stay there overnight. yes i do agree about what they said about the house. I find scary movies cool , as for books well ill get back to you on that. My favorite scary movie is SCARY MOVIE 1 2 3 4 and 5, if there is a 5.

  65. Triquita K says:

I agree Sheala R watching scary movies is good but in some of the scary movies seems like they have the same lines and kinda the same texture in the movies

  66. Lexi D. says:

I think that there is really haunted house out but we just don’t know about them. Anyone who wants to spend a night in a haunted house then having fun and a good time and not being scared is just pure crazy. Me personally dont care to much for the scary stuff I love to laugh and make people laugh then to be scared and scare people.

  67. Emmaly U says:

Well scary movies are the best type of movies in my opinion. I loved the movie “Cabin in the Woods”, and its true what the article stated in paragraph two. ‘In April, “The Cabin in the Woods” opened strong, proving that four walls and demonic activity within them are all that is needed to scare the bejesus out of us.’ This article is mainly about how popular scary movies are, and how well they are starting off when they first come out. Therefore scary movies are hitting the charts in this point in time.

  68. Charles H. says:

Personally im not a very huge fan of horror movies anymore. Its all gotten so old and worn out that most of the movies are just starting to run together, or have pointless sequals. Once youve seen a few, then youve seen them all pretty much. theres no more horror, just more or less suspense on what the main character is going to face next. And most of the time when watching movies of this nature, the characters do the most pointless, stupid actions.

  69. Teika W. says:

I Love scary movies, i think scary movies are the best. the article was saying how scary movies are most popular. I really dont have a favorite scary movie I like mostly like all scary movies. i dont think i would be able to stay in a haunted house. thats just to much for me.

  70. Arkehsa.A says:

I love scary movies they are the best movies you can watch. I can watch scary movies all day but I’ll have to have someone with me watching them it’s no fun watching them alone.Scary movies give you that intesne feeling inside.I love when someone pops out of no where and you jump in fear, you heart starts racing, your eyes get big, and you feel all weird inside.Only time i really get scared while watching a scary movie is when is says based on a true story. Other then that I’m a BIG scary movie fan!

  71. Deshawn S says:

I enjoy scary movies and scary books. Most of it is not ment to stick with you its all entertainment. Authors write these stories and movies because no one wants to watch or read romance or comedy all the time a little mystery an suspense is always good every now and again because the excitement of knowing what could happen next keeps you wondering. On the other hand there are scary movies that are based on a true story. The truth may be exzagerated a bit but its still based on a circle of true events. As far as i know there is not any haunted houses in the surrounding area but wether we know it or not every place also has its own mysteries and secrets.

  72. Wydarius Brandon says:

In my opinion scarey moves are the best. I believe this because they are full of suspense, not like action movies. Unlike action movies scarey movies can go any way you won’t know who the bad guy is because you don’t know the motive.

  73. Nathan M. says:

i personally don’t like scary movies! sometimes their okay. but i only watch them when im with friends or family. the comedy kinda scary movies are the best.

  74. james b says:

I like horror movie alot i think there the best movies to watch sometime. But sometimes i can only look at them in my room because my little sister cant take it but i really want to look at that new scary movie now

  75. Corey.p says:

I love scary movies the supense is crazy cause you never know whats going to happen. People dont like romance anymore they like scary movies cause in the end you never know whats really going to happened.

  76. Victoria G. says:

I love scary movies but i do not like scary books. The reason I love scary movies is because I can see what is going on and the other reason I love scary movies is because you can yell do go in there because someone is standing right there and looking at you.The reason I do not like scary books is because sometime you can not see what is going on.That is why I love scary movies and scary books.

  77. Wydarius B. says:

I love scarey movies. I like them more than I like action movies and scarey books. I love them because you will never know how the end is going to happen. You will never know who the “bad guy” is going to be. Also in most scarey movies there’s an extra suspense boost!

  78. Cami W. says:

Scary movies are one of the best type of movies to watch. So far from the movies I have watched Paranormal Activity is the best scary movie I have seen other than When A Stranger Calls. Watching it with friends or your loved ones in the dark at night is the best time to watch movies like these. Being scared is has a weird feeling to it that I like. I love watching scary movies and being scared to death by them.

  79. Katia S says:

I couldnt see myself staying at a haunted house. I would be so scared and paranoid forever. If I was ever to stay in a haunted house it would have to be broad day light outside. But I do like scary movies. In order for me to watch scary movies it has to be with someone. My scary movie would have to be ”The hills have eyes” thats a great movie to watch. If I was ever in a position were I was really freaked out I would probably kill myself.

  80. Chastity W. says:

I love scary movies becaue they are exciting and intresting. I think scary movies are the best movies.
