I’ve been wanting to get a good shot of this amazing stained glass window (at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Danville, Virginia) for a long time now, but usually there’s so much light that the entire image just washes away to white.
This day, though, I must’ve been there at the right time.
Even though the color’s still a little off and some detail is gone, especially at this size and DPI, at least you can see what it’s a picture of: Jesus with his Sacred Heart, surrounded by angels.
When I was about ten, I made a little mushroom sun catcher. It looks like stained glass, but is really plastic chips that melted in the oven. (I still have it in my “specials” box. :P)
Well, since then, I’ve been fascinated by stained glass. I hope one day I’ll get to learn how to do it for real.

Introducing Lucas’ new comic called “The Evil King”!
It’s about a knight who goes in search of an evil king and chops his head off. (A little gory, yes. :()
Here is Lucas telling the story of the comic:

Introducing Atticus’ new comic called “The World of Yours”!
It’s about a boy named Lucas who goes on an adventure to lots of places and sees lots of animals and other things along the way.
Here is Atticus telling the story of the comic:

[audio:2011-06-20-atticus-world-of-yours-song.mp3|loop=no]Atticus was inspired to create this comic by his big brother Lucas’ comic, “The Evil King.”
He tells me he is already at work on many other songs for this comic, so I’ll be able to add them as we record them. (He is actually singing one of them as I type. 😉

July 2008
Delacorte Theater, Central Park, NYC

Definitely early. Maybe 3 or 4?
She’s a looker, for sure. 😛

This morning, I put the final touches on our Poetry Garden. It’s outside my classroom and is full of flowers that my students decorated with Spring haiku (for the most part).
We’ve gotten lots of compliments so far, and it definitely raised my rainy-day spirits. 🙂
Here are some closeups:
And here’s my haiku:
Tiny flowers burst

I’ve been going through a lot of old newspaper clippings, pictures, and papers lately and ran across this old poster I made for a Flaming Blue Iguanas gig at the long-closed Ray’s Ribs. I’m not sure of the date, but it was likely 1996.

Well, I don’t see any apples. I see some kind of evil-eyed guy with a helmet…
