On Friday, we watched a documentary about Jayden, a two-year-old boy in the Bronx who has been diagnosed with autism. (You can watch the movie at the PBS website, but it’s not available for embedding.)
Our writing prompt for the day was a response to the film.
I think we were all surprised to discover that 1 in every 110 children is diagnosed with autism and that autism affects boys 3 to 4 times more than girls. And I don’t think I was the only one with a catch in my throat when Jayden said his first word.
